Castle Gate, Newark
DESCRIPTION
Designing and supplying a compliant solution to non conformance in a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA).
Following an FRA, a number of non conformances were raised regarding the means of escape. T&D was appointed to supply and install a fully compliant solution to ensure the means of escape were suitable and safe.
Having gained permission from the local authority to complete the proposed works, the team arrived on site. They then isolated the working area and set up man-safe systems on the flat roof.
The T&D team began work breaking out and installing foundations for the new staircase. Once completed, the existing ladder was carefully removed and taken off site for disposal, allowing the staircase to be installed.
With the staircase installed, full edge protection was erected around the perimeter of the roof. Then one of our NICEIC approved electricians installed emergency bulkhead lighting with sensors above the emergency escape door.
To remove the risk of third parties gaining unauthorised access, the team installed a steel mesh around the staircase with an emergency push bar escape door at the base.
For the finishing touch, bollards were installed around the staircase to ensure there was no risk of damage from passing cars.
