Removing an existing external staircase and replacing with new
Having had the existing staircase condemned by a fire safety officer T and D were employed to oversee the project for the restoration/replacement of the external staircase.
Our Structural Engineers were sent to site to survey the existing staircase and ascertain what repairs would be required. Once the report had been completed costings were provided for the options of either repairing or replacing the staircase with new.
Once the decision was made to replace the staircase T and D supplied the drawings and calculations for the new staircase. Following approval for building regulations and from the client for the designs the project was underway.
As the staircase was fabricated off site the T and D team worked to remove the existing foundations and complete all preparation works. Once completed and signed off the T and D set up site, spider cranes, fork lifts and a full TG 2013 compliant scaffold were all set up and ready to go.
Due to the tight location and limited access the timescale of the project was crucial and within two weeks the team had removed the existing staircase, disposed of the steel off site and installed the new staircase. The following week the staircase was verified as being compliant with all building regulations and the staircase was in use.
