Northampton - Gate Refurbishment

Project Overview

T&D Design and Build Ltd were appointed to undertake critical restoration and refurbishment works involving the cleaning, repair, and enhancement of a heavily trafficked lightwell and gate system. This project demanded a meticulous approach to ensure both the safety and longevity of the structure while maintaining the property's aesthetic appeal.

Scope of Works

• Site Setup and Health & Safety Compliance:
  Upon arrival, our team promptly completed all site inductions and health and safety paperwork, ensuring every operative was fully briefed on emergency escape procedures and the project's scope of works (SOW). A secure working area was established to prevent any unauthorized access.
• Preparation and Cleaning:
  We conducted a thorough cleaning of the lightwell area, removing all debris and bagging waste for appropriate disposal to create a clean and hazard-free environment for our fabricators.
• Specialist Fabrication Works:
  Partnering with our trusted fabricator, Wells Fabrications, we safely removed the existing metal grates. The team then manufactured and installed mild steel support frames, hot dip galvanized, to infill the four original lightwell openings, providing robust and long-lasting solutions.
• Gate Removal and Specialist Repair:
  The site’s gates were carefully dismantled into sections, securely transported off-site to a specialist workshop. Here, expert repairs were carried out to restore the gates' structural integrity and appearance.
• Reinstallation:
  After repairs were completed, the gates were meticulously returned to site and re-hung, restoring full functionality and enhancing the security and appearance of the premises.
