West Brom - Flat Roof Remedial Works

The Brief

The existing flat roof area at West Brom had reached a stage where remedial works were required to improve its long-term weather protection and prevent potential water ingress.

The roof surface, perimeter details, flashing and surrounding brickwork showed signs of age-related deterioration, exposure and general wear. Areas around the upstands and brick parapet walls required attention to ensure the roof remained watertight and protected against future weather damage.

The client required a practical and cost-effective solution to upgrade the waterproofing, repair defective details and improve the overall condition of the roof without unnecessary disruption to the building.

Our Solution

T&D Design and Build delivered a complete flat roof refurbishment package:

• Carried out a detailed site inspection to assess the condition of the existing roof covering, flashings, brickwork and perimeter details.
• Prepared the roof area by clearing debris, vegetation and loose materials to provide a suitable surface for the new waterproofing system.
• Completed localised repairs to defective areas of the existing roof surface and perimeter details.
• Installed a new waterproofing system across the flat roof area to improve weather resistance and long-term protection.
• Carried out flashing works to vulnerable junctions, upstands and perimeter edges to help prevent future water ingress.
• Undertook brickwork repairs to the surrounding parapet walls, addressing areas of deterioration and improving the integrity of the roof edge details.
• Ensured all works were completed safely, with appropriate access arrangements and minimal disruption to the client’s operations.

Result

The completed works have significantly improved the condition, appearance and weather protection of the roof area.

The new waterproofing system provides a durable protective finish, while the flashing and brickwork repairs address key areas where water ingress could occur.

The client now benefits from a cleaner, safer and more reliable flat roof solution, extending the service life of the existing structure and reducing the risk of future maintenance issues.
